Transcript: Medications and dosages for facial pain
I generally use the same medicines for both facial pain syndromes. I generally use about the same doses. It appears with patients who have atypical facial pain syndromes that they may need higher doses or they may need more medications. So often we have to use a medicine to its fullest extent by dosing it at a very high dose along with possibly using other medications. Patients who have trigeminal neuralgia often respond at lower doses and do not need the same number of medications from time to time as patients with somewhat harder to treat at times, atypical facial pain syndrome patients do.
