Surgical Considerations - Timing of Surgery

When to schedule an elective surgery for face pain is up to the patient.  Keep in mind, it has been proven the longer a trigeminal neuralgia patient waits to have microvascular decompression surgery, the less successful the outcome. 

(evidence suggests better outcomes and lower recurrence rate the shorter the interval between onset of symptoms and nerve decompression)
