Transcript: The trouble with splint therapy
The trouble with splint therapy is that it’s widely prescribed without much critical thought as to the underlying basis for its prescription. Even most patients with myofascial pain and temporomandibular disorders are over prescribed splints.
There’s no role for splint therapy, no role at all for trigeminal neuralgia. It has a limited role, certainly a useful one but a limited one, in musculoskeletal face but no role in trigeminal neuralgia.
