Transcript: Cosmetic surgery considerations for trigeminal neuralgia & chronic facial pain patients
Cosmetic surgery and trigeminal neuralgia and chronic face pain -- If you want to pursue cosmetic facial surgery, pursue it. Explain to your doctor your condition. Ask for a menu of options that are available because we can go minimally invasive to more significantly invasive and there are some plastic surgical procedures that don’t require surgery so much as injection and fillers and so forth. So there are really a number of ways to achieve your goal. But I would approach with caution procedures that could result in skin and tissue injury. Typically if your pain’s active and if you really understand the benefits and the risks and you want to pursue it, then talk to your pain management doctor and collaborate with your plastic surgeon about ways to minimize any nerve injury or facial pain flare up.
