The ongoing research that we have at the University of Virginia regarding trigeminal neuralgia is a neuroradiological study in which we are looking at the utilization of high resolution MRI and some tractography. Here in this case we are looking to see if we can discern whether or not there is a small vessel that may be impinging even when we don’t see a large vessel that may be impinging at the level of the trigeminal nerve and if so can we identify that small vessel and whether or not that has any prognostic impact in terms of potential surgical and for that matter medical outcomes.
