Transcript: Imaging options for those with a pacemaker, hip replacement, or back rod
Hip replacements and rods in the back are MRI compatible so these patients can be placed in the MRI scanners.
Patients with pacemakers can not be put into the scanners so we can not perform the exam. We can provide some other imaging options for these patients. We can perform CT angiograms and high resolution CT scanning through the region of the trigeminal nerves. This can exclude underlying masses and can evaluate the surrounding vessels but it doesn’t have the resolution that MRI scanners can provide.
