Transcript:  How orofacial pain practitioners can help

An orofacial pain practitioner can help people with trigeminal neuralgia by looking at it from different ways.  One of the things is since they’re dentists, they can look at is there a dental problem such as pulp disease or abcess of the tooth or infection in or around the tooth that can be presenting like trigeminal neuralgia.  Also, some of them go into the medical management of trigeminal neuralgia and will be using some of the medications typically that people think of physicians such as neurologists using such as some of the medications that are used for seizures.
