Transcript: Dr. Nixdorf’s trigeminal neuralgia and trigeminal neuropathic pain research
Where my research is going for trigeminal neuralgia and neuropathic trigeminal pains is really looking at the fundamental aspect of things. I came to this area as a clinician and I noticed that one of the biggest things that we’re missing was a good understanding of how to describe and talk about an entity so that different care providers, patients, and regulators can look at and understand one idea. So one of the things that I’m focusing on right now is how do we diagnose trigeminal neuropathic pain and know that it’s separate from other things like tooth pain, and TMD, and trigeminal neuralgia and so forth.
