Transcript:  Considering replacing teeth with dentures?

Patients sometimes ask me whether it would be better to just have all of their teeth removed and wear dentures -- especially when things like biting or touching their teeth causes their pain to be triggered.  What I’ve noticed in my clinical practice is that typically these type of triggers remain similar so therefore when they have dentures it’s now the denture touching the tissue or when they bite using their denture it triggers it.  Therefore now they’re uncomfortable more often with the wearing of the prosthesis then they are without having prosthesis in their natural dentition.

So overall, people tend to be happier if they are able to keep their teeth.
