Opioids

Opiates are strong prescription pain-killers.  Constipation is a common side effect, so bowel issues should be discussed with the prescribing practitioner before medication is started.  Withdrawal symptoms are possible, so gradual tapering is best when a narcotic medication is stopped.

See Medication Treatment Options for Trigeminal Neuralgia chart for specific details on medications used to treat trigeminal neuralgia.
