Transcript:  What type of care is needed after a microvascular decompression?

One of the most common questions that we’re asked when a patient is going to have a microvascular decompression is “What type of care they’ll need in the first week or two at home and will they need someone with them to help them.”

We do recommend that you have someone help you because there is a lot of energy that is used for healing.  And the first two weeks, we are not going to want you to drive a car.  We’re not going to want you to lift anything over ten pounds.  And we want you to get plenty of rest.  So, you can’t do housework and so forth.  So, it’s best to have someone there with you to help you out.
