Transcript:  Medical Research on Hypnosis

What did I find when I looked into the medical research on the use of hypnosis for trigeminal neuralgia?  There were almost 50 case studies of individuals who had trigeminal neuralgia and had been treated by their physicians using hypnosis.  These go all of the way back to the 1840’s and were performed by a wide range of physicians.  The physicians sometimes treated once or twice, sometimes dozens of times, and even in one case more than one hundred sessions were used.  But what was most impressive was they found that upwards of 90% of the patients who had trigeminal neuralgia got significant pain relief from hypnosis and in fact about half of them got complete relief.
