The type of medicine that I’m talking about is called functional medicine which is really a hybrid of taking the conventional wisdom of what we know about technology and adding it to the technology of the supplements but also the perspective of the holistic outlook. Where you’re looking at someone’s diet, their lifestyle, their stressors and their deficiencies in metabolic testing. And this is not just going and looking at blood tests or looking at what is the next prescription drug. It’s much bigger than that.
And when you’re trying to find someone who really understands that there are different associations you can look for. The Institute of Functional Medicine is the big one. There are several disciplines that are part of that. You’ll find DO’s, MD’s, DC’s, CCN’s, and all of these people, depending on their practice, will generally incorporate functional medicine. But I always recommend interview this person, ask some very pointed questions, to make sure that you’re getting someone that you can work with but is well educated on the options that are available.
