Transcript: Some drugs that can be compounded for trigeminal patients
Normally the drugs that are used for trigeminal neuralgia patients are Ketamine usually at 10% which is an anesthetic but can be used topically. Gabapentin, brand name drug would be Neurontin which is a neuropathic type drug. And some of the other ones would be Clonidine or Baclofen, Loperamide. All of these combinations can be put into the compound. Normally we would start off with probably three to block different receptor sites but those can be interchanged and increased. Normally that’s the work that the physician does. Normally after we start working with the patient, then he will start titrating the dose with the percentages until he gets the clinical results that he’s looking for.
